News coming out our ears! I don’t think we’ve ever had to reject as many possible stories as we did for this week’s podcast, so we’ve really got a quality crop of crap for you this time. We ditched the game because of the wealth of feedback and follow-up we had (big loss, right?) and include a couple of more audio clips as part of our coverage. All live yet again!
The man in charge of running Arizona’s elections has gone to the birthers. Secretary of State Ken Bennett now says he’s not convinced Barack Obama was really born in the United States and so he is threatening to keep the president off the ballot in November.
We wonder what fuels the continued, moronic fixation on this completely asinine non-issue.
40,000 Orthodox Jews rallied in Citi Field (Flushing, NY Brian’s old stomping grounds) to discuss banning the internet. (Mind you, it was a male only event. And, they didn’t actually ban the internet)
Items of interest:
Brian – Star Tram!
Startram is based on existing maglev technology and basic physics. A motivated nation could build a startram system capable of launching 300,000 tons of payload into orbit for less than $40/kg. The infrastructure for a cargo-only version would cost on the order of $20 Billion to build and could be completed within 10 years. A people-capable version could be built for $60 Billion and be completed within 20 years.

The future is in reach. Control your desktop and interact with apps through natural hand and finger movements with The Leap. Available for pre-order now for only $70.
We ditched it this week mid-stream. Executive decision on my part based on time remaining and stuff to get to.
Listener Feedback / Follow Up:
Wow! Tons of stuff this time. We follow up on the Spacex story from last week, (They launched successfully). We also give you a status report on Artemis, the Bridge Simulation software Brian featured last week. Hint – it’s effing awesome. Play now, and contact us to help build a crew.
We also got some listener feedback! Thanks to Articulett for getting back to us from last week, and to cwebb for calling us out on our ego trip.
While we like cwebb and Articulett quite a bit, we want to ensure everyone that we’re not playing favorites here. If you comment (and you’re not a spambot), your correspondence will almost certainly be featured in this section of the next show. Also – no one’s used our Google Voice number yet. It’s getting lonely!
